SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER
My first office job after completing my studies was at EMTV, a video production company that produced television programmes for RTL. Programmes such as Ondernemend Nederland, Lifestyle Experience and Woontips were produced here. Entrepreneurs could buy airtime within these programmes, and our task was to make sure engaging episodes were created.
As Social Media Manager, I worked with a twofold target audience. We had to get viewers excited about new episodes, while also convincing companies to take part in the programmes. With several different programmes, there were also multiple social media channels to maintain. Content had to be published across more than eight platforms. Developing strategies was essential, but at the same time, everything had to be practical and manageable.
I was also given the freedom to try out new initiatives. For example, together with one of the presenters, we created the format Doordraaien, in which we shared behind-the-scenes footage from the recordings. I was responsible for setting up and editing this format. It gave future entrepreneurs an insight into what happened behind the scenes, while also encouraging transparency and trust.
Internally, the company was looking for more connection and transparency. Because of the different departments within the organisation, many employees were not fully aware of each other’s work. That is why we decided to create a video newsletter every first Friday of the month. We chose a video format because it suited the organisation better and helped to engage people more than a traditional newsletter.
YouTube optimisation also played an important role in the future of the company. We invested in gaining more knowledge about Google Ads and optimising our YouTube channels. This allowed us to support clients in sharing their video content after they had taken part in one of the programmes.
